Its a long shot, but if you think the laptop is working - have you tried
cycling the video signal through the different modes?
I have a IBM T21 and you can cycle the video output from Screen to VGA-out
using Fn - F7 together, I dont know whether the 600e is the same.
When mine is on VGA-out you get nothing on the screen and when mine boots to
Win98 it defaults to VGA (blank) for some reason. Thing is.....I always get
the bios screen first before it goes blank.
To be honest it doesnt sound like this is your problem but its worth a try?
