Thanks for your reply James. Browsing through the restore disk I noticed
there is a ghost file so I presume that the hidden partition on these
machines contain some sort of ghost instructions. With a new non Toshiba
hardrive I doubt if the restore disk would work, as there would be no
setup files for it to write the ghost partition.
As for the ford and vauxhall stuff, I have as you say, paid for Microsoft
xp home, not Toshiba xp home.
