I received a laptop a couple of years ago in its case, stuffed inside a
black bin bag, and yes, it was OK! My daughter just bought a DVD recorder,
similarly packed, and it too, was OK.
Not a recommendation, just a fact!
Use Parcelforce. Despite the aggro you hear about them, they are the best
for compensation should the item go astray. I sent a racing bike to Olympia,
Washington State, Pacific US, and it arrived in 4 days by Parcelforce. Also
you can use any Post Office, about Ł10, plus a couple of pounds for
insurance up to Ł500.
