Hi all.

The battery on my Lenovo N100 has just failed. Not just gradually got
worse, but it has instantly stopped working.
Before I investigate further, or just buy another battery, could anyone
confirm that this type of failure can occur. It seems highly unlikely so
Im wondering if my lappy has a fault instead.

Thanks
Steve

At roughly the same time I purchased a Lenovo N100 and an Advent 8117.
The Lenovo, touch wood, has been fine, but the battery in the Advent
failed in exactly the way you describe within the warranty period.

To take advantage of the Advent warranty, I was required to return the
whole machine to the repair place. All transport and the replacement of
the battery was quick, efficient and foc. However, it was lucky that I
had made a full backup of the machine as it was returned with a strange,
different partition structure that obviously was installed for their
test procedure, and had to be fully re-partitioned and re-installed from
the backup. The note with the machine simply said Battery replaced,
user to re-install.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks, it seems that a battery can fail instantly then.

If its like the Dells, they reach a set number of charge cycle
triggers then stop working. Theres absolutely fuck all wrong with the
battery and Dells excuse is that it is done to ensure the customer has
the best possible experience. Like fuck it is. Its so they can sell
batteries people dont actually need.

Get yourself a generic one off Fleabay which wont suffer from this
manufactured failure.
