Hi,

I have an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 laptop. Recently I upgraded from
Windows 98 to ME.

Since doing so, it runs happily on the mains, but wont run off the battery.
When I unplug the AC adapter, it dies, rather than running off the battery.

The battery was old and not brilliant, so I invested in a new battery, but
its still not running off it, so there is obviously some setting that I
need to set.

The battery is charging OK.

Anyone able to offer any suggestions?

You could have a look at Control Panel-Power options.
