Compaq Presario EA2521 running XP SP2. Cant get it to power up.
Occasionally it begins to power up for about half a second then cuts out.

Bought second hand 2 years ago. It never worked properly on the battery.
Previous owner only ever used it on mains. I heard that wasnt good for
batteries. Got new one, but still never worked properly. Only went at best
for 20 mins on battery then cut out with no warning. At the moment Id be
happy with just getting it to power up.

Any suggestions?

Hey there,

If you can see the blue light when you start you laptop, then the
power supply is fine
the next one I think will be the motherboard,I had the same laptop,
same prob as well, after 2 and a half years, it started powering up
for 2s and then stoped....
I believe the motherboard parts number is : 319612-001 can be a bit
expensive thoug,
