Im on the lookout for a replacement for my laptop. When looking at the
universal types, I see very few models listed on the compatibility list on
the box. For a more detailed list I have to look inside of the plastic,
sealed wrapping (In other words I have to buy it to find out if its
compatible!!)

If my laptop is rated at 19v, would ANY universal charger which has this
setting, along with the correct connector be OK??

The laptop will have its own power supply. If you mean a 12-volt to 19-volt
step-up charger, be aware that these can be troublesome as they do not iron
out voltage spikes, which can cause the laptops system board to blow.

Should be, but doesnt the manufacturer have a website where you could get a
definitive answer to this question?

E.g.: http://www.igo.com/searchresults.asp?search id=4
