Post subject: Video Card upgrades / Vista Aero ?

Hi, have an Acer 8104WLMi and wondered if anyone had Vistas posh graphics
system
Aero running on it ?

Vista upgrade advisor says it wont as it is not fast enough and not enough
graphics, however my boxes copy of Visa suggests 128meg will do it (and I
thought the ATI mobility x700 was supposed to be quite quick)?

Anyway, is there another option ? Can this laptop be upgraded (PCI express
or anything ?).

So far as Im aware it cant be upgraded, and I thought min spec for running
aero deck was 256mb PCI express

It works fine on my 128mb AGP Geforce 6600GT

Can you do all that fancy glass stuff and the 3d window switching etc ?

Me too, got Aero running fine on Acer Ferrari with ATI X700 128Mb card.

Vista gives my X700 a performance rating of 4.3 for graphics (Desktop
performance for Windows Aero). 4.3 is quite a good score BTW.
