Is it possible to remove the BIOS password from a Samsung V20 laptop,
either by:

removing the main and CMOS-backup batteries?
using a BIOS password reset utility?
or removing, reflashing and replacing the BIOS EEPROM?

Excuse my re-use from a more recent thread:

Removal of the CMOS battery or hitting/taking cap off the jumper on the
motherboard are 2 among more solutions, I suspect. The hard part is
opening the unit. If you have a vendor-specific password reset utility,
use it. The third option is similar to the first and involves exposing the
motherboard. Be careful.

Best wishes,

Roy

Doing a quick search through this newgroup, I spot 5 such largely
copied-and-pasted posts originating from the same E-mail address. They make
no mentioning of the problem, as described by the original poster. This
essentially makes it promotional spam, which could call for abuse reports to
the ISP.

I would suspect hand copied and pasted, rather than a bot (a bot would
be more consistent with spelling). At least one does mention the problem
and even makes suggestions other than simply giving the company money.
So it doesnt entirely appear to be trying to make money rather than
giving free help..

Although the poster doesnt hide the fact that he is from the company
concerned - he could spell it out a bit more clearly. Otherwise, it
could be mistaken as an unbiased opinion rather than a sales pitch.

Good Morning Sue/Roy,

I think you have made a valid point, I am the MD of ACRC Ltd
(http://www.acrc.co.uk), UK Laptop Repairs is our national division
which offers component level laptop repairs.

In the past I have been reading posts on this news group, my intention
is to give free assistance when possible or direction to our services
if the problem is something we would consider more complex.

I have to admit that being the MD does not qualify me as an Engineer by
any means and as such I shall make a point of filtering more questions
through to our engineers so they can answer them. This will hopefully
enable the original poster the possibility of resolving the problem
themselves.

I must stress that I have done this on a number of occasions including
part searches but measuring this versus offering our paid services is
unbalanced.

I hope this explanation sets us aside from spammers. If not I would
appreciate any feedback you may have to offer.

Wishing you all a sunny end to your weekend.

Kind Regards

Gem Watson
ACRC Ltd incorporating UK Laptop Repairs & UK Apple Mac Repairs.

Hi Gem,

Thats a perfectly valid and appreciated explanation. *smile* I would only
suggest that you bear in mind that UseNet is said to be non-promotional in
nature. Newsgroup manifestos attempt to stick to this ideaology because,
in its absence, groups get plagued by what people call noise, which does
not add much relevant content to the ongoing discussion.

One such example is alt.websites, which has been literally dead for ages.
As people endlessly post URLs to arbitrary sites which they have just set
up, the vocation of the group seems uncertain and people soon unsubscribe
and depart. In other groups, people post one-line URLs to their eBay
auctions, which proves to be annoying to group subscribers. A better and
openly-accepted is that which includes technical suggestions or answers,
as well as a possibility or an offer for further help.

To clarify, I have no authority whatsoever in this group. I am just a
slightly concerned reader who hopes to make constructive suggestions. I
hope you didnt take any offence in my previous message. If so, it wasnt
intended.

Best wishes,

Roy

Good Morning Roy,

Thank you for your friendly & constructive reply. Of course I took no
offence, I was and still am a little unsure if our continued posts
offering advice & possible service would be appreciated. I wonder if
rather than posting in my previous fashion if I stopped all posts which
solely offer our services in place of posts which give free advice but
add a foot note like:

Still struggling? ... Visit us at www.uklaptoprepairs.co.uk or call us
on 0800 043 2524 (Mon-Sat)
FREE courier collection, FREE Estimate, Fixed Labour Rates from Ł59 -
Ł89+vat MAX! All Component Level Laptop PC & Apple Mac work
considered, with full guarantees.

?? this would be in place of any future direct offers of service. I
have to be honest I do want people to know we are here but pay per
click & sponsored links are out of the question at the moment owing to
the fact that our margin is barely break even versus our staff costs
&overheads, having said that my service ethic refuses to make the
customer pay over the odds for labour intensive repairs, it is
imperative that our rates remain fair. I just hoped that being a
little cheeky & posting here would help point more people in our
direction.

Thanks again Roy, I know this may seem a little unusual but you seem to
be extremely helpful & in the know! if you get a moment I wonder if
perhaps you could give me a call so we could have a quick chat about
this, I am eager to pick your brains for a couple of minutes, if you
call 0800 043 2524 I will ring you back to save your bill.
Alternatively a quick reply to this post would be very much
appreciated.

Kind Regards

Gem
