check your account:

my card was supposed to come with a Ł20 credit on it but I received
a bill today. it was only for a few quid but thats not the point.

I called vodafone and they credited my account with Ł20.

I suggest you check your bill and save a copy of the advertising blurb
in case you have to argue the toss with them.

Hi, cheers for that, btw, have you managed to get it working ok? Ive a
Aspire 1801 and it refuses to connect to mobile. I get a error 619, Ive
contacted vodafones technical support and they told me that its probably
because the laptops modem is using the same port and I should disable it.
Well I did that and it didnt make any difference. I then performed a
complete fresh install of XP without loading the modems driver but I still
get that error. If I cant get it to work Ill sell it, currently fetching
Ł80 on ebay according to reports...
Thanks,
ChrisC

I had a similar problem (although, in my case, I actually paid for the
card!). A 619 error is usually generated by the remote end failing to
authenticate you. What sim are you using? If it was supplied with the card,
have you registered it? I had to get a replacement for a dodgy sim and even
the replacement took nearly 24 hours for the registration to promulgate over
the network. If youve got another Voda sim, stick it in the unit and try to
log on with that. If the sim has GPRS enabled on it, you should be able to
get the fallback GPRS connection and connectivity at that bandwidth. It will
also prove that there is nothing wrong with the unit or the way your laptop
is confiigured.

It took me three days and about 10 phone calls to Voda help to get mine
working.

when you ordered the card, did they ask for a reference number or voucher
number from the supposed laptops direct purchase?

I only ask because the website says you need this, yet the information below
simply states they want the laptop serial number.

I ran the phoneline (closed) but the automated message talks of vouchers!
