Hi and thanks for reading this.
I brought my son a tiny E2400 notebook in november 2004, A few weeks ago the
battery/notebook was playing up saying that it was then not charging,
sitting at 63% charged, and now the thing wont run on battery at all, I went
to the shop where brought from today but was told as you did not take out
the gold plus warranty for 79 quid plus 4.99 a month, you will have to call
the premium rate helpline at Ł1 a min
thanks tiny/ the computer shop,
I called the customer services and was told that as i have unit for more
than 30 days I have to do the same.

So.... does anyone have any ideas to what is the main cause of the problem?
battery or notebook charging circuit?

thanks in advance and i can say that this is the last tiny pc i buy.
Bob

try reading
http://www.surfbaud.co.uk/knowledgebase/liondiagnostic.html
and see if it helps, dont do anything though as nov 2004 is only 4 months
ago so you are well well well within even the most minimalistic warranty
and you dont want to mess that up.

yes, I have a vested / commercial interest in batteries, but seeing as I
dont do your type I dont have a vested interest one way or another in
your case.

hth etc

I have to admit, I dont know the legalities/technical side of it all, but
that was what 5 months ago at most and I wouldnt expect a notebook battery
to die that quickly (maybe after a year). Have a look here:

http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/facts/salegoodsact.htm

And see if that helps your case with the shop. ISTR it says that the onus is
on the trader to prove that its not an inherant problem with the goods up
till six months so Id get on it sharpish :)
