Hi All,

Ive currently got a Sony Vaio laptop (3kg) but am looking for something
with a smaller
physical footprint and sub 2kg. Specification needs to be a least 1Ghz
AMD/Intel, 30GB HD,
CD/DVD-ROM, 256MB RAM, PCMCIA, USB and ideally WLAN and the option to
upgrade to 512MB. Essentially a machine capable of running Office apps and
doing some
light .NET development work.

Ive seen a nice JVC laptop in PCWorld but with an 8 display it is a little
too small and
the Ł1600 price tag is more than I wanted to spend.

Ive seen a Medion SIM2000 for Ł500 in Staples which basically has the
specification that I
want and with a 12 display its usable. Has anyone got any feedback on this
laptop or Medion
laptops in general?

Staples dont show the laptop online, but the same one appears on the Toys R
Us site:

Any thoughts or recommendations would be very useful!

Take a look at the Acer TravelMate 382TMi
Pentium-M 725, 1.6GHz
80GB, 512MB RAM, External DVDRW Dual
Weighs in at a petite 1.6kg

I use it for heavy .NET development (I upgraded the RAM to a gig)
;-)
