I bought my (Asus) laptop just shortly before Centrino technology was
launched, so even with a spare battery, by computer has a maximum operating
time of about 4 hours... I know there are (portable) external power supplies
that last longer, but are evidently only available for a limited number of
brands... can anybody help with ideas?
TIA

I thanks you sir.

Dennis is correct, we do external batteries that are not laptop make / model
specific, compatibility list includes Apple, Acer, AMS, Asus, etc

one customer bought two external batteries because we works every day (eg 8+
hour day with laptop running) with his laptops and it is apparently quite a
pain to find and plug into a mains socket at his workplace (I gather they
are there, just behind desks and consisting of half a dozen adapters
plugged into each other) he recently said that in the two or so months that
he had been using the external batteries he thought he had only plugged the
laptops into the mains about once

HTH etc
