Actually, its kinda true.

Real USB 2.0 is High-Speed USB. The USB people decided that calling it
USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 just confused people; and so giving it a marketing
name like High-Speed USB wouldnt be nearly so confusing.

This doesnt explain causing awful old USB 1.1 to be called Full Speed
USB, though. Idiots.

(Its a lot less confusing over at the Firewire side of the fence, of
course; the new version is Firewire 800, indicating its speed, and the
old one is Firewire 400.

As of the iPod question: iPod can connect over both Firewire and USB2,
istr, so all he has to do is buy a CardBus card that supports one or the
other to get proper speed out of it.)

Quite, but why should punters be fobbed off by an old standard?
However, the important thing now is to always look for the special
High-speed USB logo and take no notice of any USB 2.0 labelling.
In fact the USB consortium recommends the manufacturers not to use
labelling such as USB 2.0 Full Speed (really USB 1.1), as this will
lead to confusion.

USB2 is much faster than USB, so your application may not work.

Check with Apple, because there seems no good reason why you couldnt
transfer your songs over USB 1 - it would just take longer.
